The individual is at the heart of e2e

All elements of e2e, from training to work placements, are designed to address the specific needs of individual young people.

e2e for Referrers

e2e moves young people forward

e2e aims to reduce the number of young people not in education, employment or training, by 10% by 2004. As a referrer no doubt you will have an interest in this as well!

e2e replaces Life Skills, Preparatory Training and NVQ Learning at Level 1 for young people aged 16 to 18 on the work-based training route.

To deliver its full potential e2e needs to work together with key agencies and learning providers towards a common goal - to develop an infrastructure which provides the training and support young people need.

By getting involved in e2e, promoting it and introducing it as a valuable option to young people, referrers will play a key role in helping to reduce the number of young people who fail to reach their potential.

e2e in a nutshell

e2e is a new first choice for any appropriate young person not able to directly enter a Modern Apprenticeship, Further Education or other employment, who would benefit from a variety of support in a work based environment.

Young people can enter e2e if they:

  • Are eligible for work-based learning
  • Are not employed (unless specific agreement has been made with the LSC)
  • Are aged 16 -18 on the day they start e2e
    OR
  • Are a member of the extended guarantee group
    OR
  • Are aged 19 to 24, not eligible for New Deal and the LSC has agreed to the provision of a place.
    AND
  • Are not yet ready to enter a structured learning option leading to a qualification at Level 2.

There is no time-frame for e2e - it is based entirely on the needs of the young person.

A young person will normally spend more than 16 hours per week on e2e, receiving skilled training or benefiting from a work placement. Attendance will build up over time to reflect a full working week.

e2e is facilitated by the Learning and Skills Council and delivered by Learning Providers in partnership with Connexions.

The full directory of provision is available in the providers area and referrers should apply to the Partnership Office to request a username and password.
