The programme will be learner lead/focused surrounding their individual needs being identified through a thorough initial assessment period including setting SMART objectives/goals for each individual and logged on an individual Learning Plan being reviewed every 3 – 4 weeks.
As part of their initial assessment at Workwise, each learner will undergo: a learning style questionnaire, initial assessment for literacy, numeracy and ICT with further diagnostics if deemed necessary and have MAPS or similar assessment carried out for us to be able to monitor and distance travelled on the programme.
The training/activities will focus on learner’s interests and be relevant to the learner’s social and vocational needs, which in-turn will help improve and maintain motivation, increase self-esteem and confidence, address any Skills for Life issues whilst at the same time encouraging career progression through a variety of taster placements underpinned by accredited and non-accredited programmes. Non-accredited programmes will be mapped to RARPA.
Training sessions will take into consideration each learners learning style and will employ, equality, diversity and differentiation.
Vocational aspects of the programme will enable learners to experience the ‘world of work’ in suitable placement opportunities relevant to their chosen or preferred skill/career areas and, in sheltered provision should it be required. An individual learner can be supported by a specialist Job Coach who can assist in the work place learning new tasks, social relationships and working practices, in travel training on new routes to become independent and in applying for suitable benefits to meet their individual needs i.e. Disability and Living Allowance, concessionary bus passes etc.
